Compass Community Guidelines
Travel Noire’s platform, Compass, is an amazingly diverse community of travelers learning and inspiring each other to dig deeper and journey further. It is up to each of us to keep Compass a safe, accepting, and encouraging space for everyone. Like any successful group, it functions best when the community follows a few simple rules. By joining Compass, you must agree to comply with these community guidelines:
1. Be Kind and Compassionate. We have a zero tolerance policy for negativity, bullying, harassment, drama, gossip, or toxic energy. Spirited debate about ideas or concepts is awesome, personal attacks are not. If you can’t be kind, be quiet. Compass will honor requests to remove content that publicly shames or degrades a private individual. Further, violation of this rule is grounds for immediate and permanent removal from the Compass community without a refund.
2. Be Open-Minded. Our community expectation is that you will encourage and support your fellow members. Never make anyone feel unwelcome or judged; treat everyone with love and acceptance. If you disagree or have an opposing viewpoint to share, do so with respect, honor and from a place of compassion.
3. Participate and Share What You Know. This is YOUR community, so be a part of it! Join in on discussions, show up for Compass Local events as often as possible, and reply to your community members! Chances are, someone can benefit from what you have to contribute.
4. Use Respectful Language. This is a no trash talking zone: about Travel Noire, its employees, Compass, or anyone else, member or not. We don’t put anyone down, be it other companies or people. This applies to issues with other Compass members as well. If you have an issue or grievance — either with Compass or another member, bring it directly to the party you have issue with. Find resolution. It’s the adult and responsible thing to do. If you feel it’s important for us to know, please take screenshots, collect your records of the communications, and write compass@travelnoire.com. We don’t want any disrespectful members in this community and we’ll take action.
5. Protect Our Content. Don’t copy, steal, share, reuse or repurpose the content that you receive as part of your Compass membership, which is all intellectual property owned by Travel Noire, Inc. If you have a question about what would constitute infringement, write us directly at compass@travelnoire.com. We take these issues seriously and violation of this rule is grounds for immediate and permanent removal from the Compass community without a refund.
6. Maintain Member’s Privacy. Don’t send any spam, mass emails or otherwise violate another Compass member’s privacy. Never email or contact other members without their permission, especially for commercial purposes. Violating this is grounds for immediate removal without refund.
7. Have a good time. When people behave responsibly and respectfully the community thrives and everybody wins. Our community will be stronger because of it!
What Happens if You Don’t Follow the Guidelines?
We really hope that this never happens. But here’s what might go down if you slip up.
We might delete your post without notice. If something is deleted, it’s probably not an accident – either too many people reported it or we found it unsuitable and removed it. (The reason we say without notice is that we really want to put our time and energy into creating more amazing things for you. We love you and hope you’ll understand and learn from the experience).
We might reach out to you to say that you’re in violation of our Compass terms (we will give you the benefit of the doubt but we take this program and its members very seriously).
Our lawyer might reach out to you.
We might remove you from Compass.
Travel Noire, Inc. reserves the right, in our sole and absolute discretion and without notice, to deny any member access to Compass and/or to remove any content that does not adhere to these Community Guidelines. Further, we reserve the right to take all appropriate actions with any offending accounts that violate the Community Guidelines, which may include notifications from us or our legal team.
As this is a zero tolerance community, violation of the community guidelines is grounds for immediate and permanent removal from the Compass community without a refund.
